Why trust expert location scouting to align visuals, permits, and logistics?
Location scouting identifies the right backdrop for your story. It aligns the setting with narrative, tone, and logistics so each scene looks authentic and works in practice. Strong scouting surveys aesthetics, access, and permits to avoid issues before they appear. The result is smoother production and more compelling visuals. Every story needs the right setting. Location scouting balances beauty with practicality and finds spaces that work both visually and technically.

SOURCING
Sometimes the most basic request can prove difficult. Finding the quintessential archetype of a given location means scouting through a sea of “almosts” and “not-quites”, often cold-calling when location databases come up short. When FUGO Studios began scouting for the Community First “Ear Gauges” location, we realized that finding the perfect men’s changing room was a nuanced process: A suitably ‘manly’ location that provided us with the look and tone while providing the production needs for fluid filming.
AVAILABILITY. SELECTION. PERSONALITY.
LOGISTICS
Locations aren’t always buildings, for the Delta Air Lines Safety Video, FUGO Studios opted to shoot aboard a live aircraft. This decision required FAA cooperation, paperwork, credentials and careful background checks, far more than a traditional shooting location. The location would only be available to shoot overnight, and real-world limitations such as power, air-conditioning and easy load-in required significant overhauling of the production schedule. Proper location scouting means being prepared for unfamiliar territory, and thinking through angles, gear limitations and schedules well in advance.
COORDINATION. MANAGEMENT. ADAPTATION.
PRODUCTION PLANNING
Production planning is central to proper location scouting. For the Dorito’s Ostrich commercial shoot, FUGO producers filmed in sections of a functioning office. The team had to ensure that work within the office was never interrupted and therefore careful planning was necessary prior to the shoot day. Angles we’re carefully mapped and time scheduled. Choosing the proper location ensured the ability to be prepared and stay ahead of the shoot.
ANGLES. TONE. LOOK.
